Meet Kathryn
Kathryn Mitzelfelt writes lyrical, emotionally rich stories woven from myth, memory, and history. She believes words can be threads that bind the soul to beauty and truth.
Growing up surrounded by stories, she learned early that imagination can illuminate the darkest places. Today, she writes from her home in Tennessee, where she and her husband raise their four children and fill their days with books, nature walks, and lots of noise.
Kathryn holds a B.A. in English from Rhodes College and an M.S.W., and her background in literature and social work deeply influences her storytelling. Living with lupus has taught her endurance, grace, and the quiet strength that threads through her characters. Her debut fantasy series, Threadkeepers, explores destiny, courage, and the cost of truth in a world where reality is literally woven from light.
Kathryn’s fiction blends lyrical prose, heritage-based magic, and moral complexity. Her stories explore how love and courage persist even in the face of fear — and how truth, once seen, cannot be unthreaded.
Whether writing fantasy filled with living tapestries and moral complexities, or reflections on family, wisdom, and beauty, Kathryn seeks to remind readers that light can be found in every story worth telling.
When she isn’t writing, Kathryn can usually be found spending time with her amazing husband and children, walking beneath the Tennessee pines, or dreaming up new recipes in her messy kitchen. Her life is rooted in family, and the belief that beauty — whether found in a story, a sunrise, or a loaf of bread — is a form of worship.
Thank you for visiting this little corner of my world. I hope my stories remind you that truth and beauty are never far apart — and that even a single thread of light can change everything.
